It took over a year of planning for this adventure. We had searched many options and landed on an amazing outfitter who would supply our kayaks and ferry us upriver to the launch point beneath the towering Glen Canyon Dam. This wasn't just a trip; it was a journey into the wild, and I had pulled together the ultimate crew: Dru, Marv, Chris, and myself.

Originally, the plan was to drive out in my Tesla, but fate had other ideas. Just after a peaceful day kayaking Big Bear Lake, I got rear-ended. It was a close call that could have thrown off our entire expedition. But nothing could stop us'not even a fender bender. We rented a Range Rover from a guy on TORO and forged ahead with undeterred spirits.

From the moment we hit the water, everything was perfect.

The river, and the camaraderie'it was the kind of adventure you dream about. Every twist and turn of the river brought new excitement, and we navigated it all with a mix of peaceful meditation, to spirited exhilaration. This wasn't just a trip that went off without a hitch; it was 100% pure, unfiltered fun, the kind of experience that sticks with you for a lifetime.

The drive-up was just beautiful!

This was the view from our hotel room. Marv was my bunking partner, while Dru and Chris bunked together. It ends up that Dru snores like a truck!

Looks like these are our kayaks for the day!

I have NEVER seen a place so beautiful before!

We are right below Glen Canyon Dam, and ready to begin our day on the water!

Ready to seize the day!

Getting packed up for the 20 miles!

I have NEVER seen water so green, ever!

Hi Marv. The canyon looks so inviting!

Chris is ready to paddle!

They told us that there were fresh springs along the river, but advised us not to drink it!

NICE!

These petroglyphs are between 2,000 and 5,000 years old.

The rare Chuckwalla lizard.

Looking up at Horseshoe Bend, we will check that out tomorrow.

Meditating Man!

Just drifting down the river!

What an amazing day. Tomorrow we will hike to Horse Shoe Bend and look back over where we kayaked today.
