This was truly the hike of a lifetime.
I had seen photos of The Wave on motivational posters for years, and every time I saw one, I knew I wanted to go. When I started researching the hike, I learned that access is extremely limited—only a small number of people are allowed each day. I tried for two years to get a permit online with no luck.
So Marv and I planned a trip to Kanab and camped out at the ranger station early the first morning. After chatting with the rangers and making a well-placed donation, our names were called—second out of 150 people! People were offering us cash in the hallway for our passes. No chance.
The next morning we set out and had the time of our lives. Check out the video below from one of the best days ever.
Here is our pass
Marv signing us in!
Just 3 miles to go. The video below gives a better experience of the day.
This place is magical.
Looking back at where we just hiked!
Every turn brings a better view!
Coming into the Wave!
Looking back out.
Wait for me.
What do you see in there Marv?
That is the look of pure satisfaction!
Marv and I in the WAVE!
That is the money shot on all of those posters.
Heading up to the small arch way above, we came by this small pond!
There goes Marv. It was an easier climb than we thought it would be!
The views at amazing from up here!
You can see the small pond and the Wave down below.
We sat in the arch and had our second celebratory whiskey!
Now, how do we get back again?

Our video from the day!
